I have seven years of formal education. So when I get on here and talk about things, please understand this is not like a recent fad or like a tangent for me. Okay? I love studying this. I love helping others. And I've done it for a long time. Now. I just love studying the human body. So when I come on here and discuss these hot topics, many of these things are things that I've personally struggled with. And it's the same things that I hear my clients talk about every single day. So listen to that stat again. 78% of women are over medicated. Now hear me loud and clear. I'm not placing blame on you. If you're on meds. I just want you to open your eyes to a very, very broken system. Healthcare is not healthcare. It has nothing to do with health. It is sick care today. I simply want you to have an understanding that this is a broken system. It is a money-making system. Now there's something else I want you to understand. I am not here to beat up on doctors and nurses. Okay. I'm talking about a system. And the reality is that we have got some amazing doctors and nurses working in a very broken system. So many of them went into this to help people. They have good hearts, but again, they're trying to work in a very broken system. Let me give you an example. If the doctor is truly trying to take some time and get to the root of the issue and really listen to their patient, guess what's going to happen. That doctor is going to be under so much pressure from that healthcare administrator. Okay? So doctors are under a lot of pressure to get patients in and get them out. So doctors really do not have a lot of freedom and flexibility. Okay? They're under a tremendous amount of pressure from the healthcare administrator because it's a money-making business, get them in, get them out. And my heart breaks. And I mean, it breaks for doctors and nurses right now. Somehow, we have gone from them being frontline heroes, to being forced to take a job or lose their job. It's awful. It is absolutely awful. They're burned out. They're stressed out and they're working in a very broken system and they're getting stress from they're getting stressed. They're getting pressure from all ends. So please understand why. As I discussed this today, I'm not beating up on doctors and nurses. I'm beating up on the system. I want you to see that this big ugly sick care system could care less about your health. Let me give you a scenario. This is one I hear all the time a woman goes to the doctor. Finally, she's been putting it off because she's taking care of everybody else. And her health has not been a priority, but she finally gets to that point of desperation. And she goes to the doctor. She tells the doctor, I'm struggling. I'm depressed. I need to lose weight. I don't know what to do. Nothing's working that doctor says, okay, I hear you. You do need to lose some weight. Uh, so work on that. And here's the med for the depression. And I'll see you again in three months. Guess what happens? She gains more weight because of the, because of the meds. When she goes back to the doctor and the doctor says, so how are you feeling? You feel any better? She's like, no, I don't feel better. Cause by at that point, she's probably gained about 20 pounds. So she feels absolutely worse and she's depressed about the weight gain. And she honestly hasn't noticed any big difference with her mental or emotional health. And so guess what the doctor does. He puts her on more meds. Oh, well, we'll try this one. It's a pill for an ill approach. It's a, I'm going to throw darts at the dartboard, but not even look at the dartboard. We're just going to see if something sticks. So this pill for an ill approach, you know, no matter what someone goes in for the, doctor's just thinking, what medication can I throw at it? And so the problem is that you've got all these side effects from the medications. So let's say you're started on an, a medication. And that causes constipation. You know, I talk about poop all the time. So a woman goes in, she's put on a medication. She goes back to the doctor and she's having severe GI problems. What does the doctor do? Oh, I'm going to send you to a GI specialist. What does the GI specialist do? He puts her on more medications. So it's just, we're going to specialists. We're getting put on more and more medications. And here's, what's interesting, even though we have all of this modern technology, we've got these amazing smartphones and everything else. Nope. The doctors never talk same patient, same body. The body works as a system, but you know what? Traditional health care does not recognize that it doesn't recognize that everything works together in the body. So this specialist will treat this, that another specialist will treat that they never communicate with each other. And they're all places. They're all placing everybody on drugs and that's yet it is such a broken approach. It hurts my heart. It makes me angry. So you're probably hearing the anger and the frustration. And this is coming from women that I'm working with. Why in the world am I seeing so many young moms on so many freaking medications? Why in the world I'll tell you why it's an easy way to shut you up and get you out of that office. They don't care. They just want to get you in and get you out. And y'all something has got to be different. Now, please keep in mind. A lot of this goes back to how doctors are taught in medical school. So, you know, all of these lifestyle changes like nutrition and sleep and managing stress and drinking water. All of these amazing things, um, are not taught in medical school. Nutrition. For instance, nutrition is typically a three-to-four-hour seminar. That's it? So if you're depending on your doctor to teach you about nutrition, you're looking in the wrong place. Now, next week, we're going to hear from Dr. Amy Beard. And she's going to give you a tremendous amount of insight into how broken our healthcare system is. What that, what that process looks like. The kind of training a doctor has, et cetera. So I'll want you to hear straight from a doctor's mouth. Okay? So that is next week. So stay tuned for that. Let me give you another stat. Last year, big pharma made $1.27 trillion - trillion with a T - $1.27 trillion yet not a single penny went into teaching you how to get healthier because you are not the priority. Money is the priority. If your health was the priority, then you would hear about the value of sleep. You would hear about stress management, getting some vitamin D from the sun, but yet simple strategies like that, those back-to-basics approach. That's not discussed because it doesn't make anybody money. So our goal is to stay out of the broken system. We want to stay out of the system. I will tell you this pandemic has, it has absolutely blown my mind from being in healthcare 25 years, healthcare, health, and wellness, having been in a very deep understanding of big pharma and big healthcare. Um, and understanding how this works. I have been absolutely shocked because during this whole crap show of a pandemic, it's become abundantly clear. This has nothing to do with your health. Not a dang thing. It's about power. It's about control. It's about fear and it's just about money. I'm scared to do this freaking podcast. And that makes me so mad because censorship is so very real. If I wanted to do posts regarding natural immunity and just use the hashtag natural immunity. Did you know that that is a banned hashtag? Why is that? What are they so worried about? Let me tell you, they're worried about you being independent. They're worried about you not relying on this broken system because they make more money when you're dependent on them and their appeal for an ill approach. Hey, take a look at the commercials. If you're, if you watch regular TV, like take a look at the commercials, how many of those are drug commercials? How much money does that cost its appeal for an ill approach? This is why I shifted from traditional health care to functional medicine, functional wellness. Because I love the fact that functional medicine gets to the root of the problem. It doesn't dismiss somebody, it validates what they're going through, what they're feeling. And it helps him with their lifestyle approach to tornado, turning everything around and actually preventing disease. I will tell you, y'all the stories that I hear. It breaks my heart, because what happens is that when a woman, family gets up the courage to go to the doctor, she finally prioritizes the time to go to the doctor. She is dismissed. She is silenced and she walks out of there. So disheartened so discouraged. After talking to that doctor, this is not one client. This is all of my clients. You see, when a woman goes to the doctor, her feelings, aren't validated, she's dismissed. She's silenced. So today I'm going to give you seven tips, seven back to basics, tips to reclaim your health. Now I know what you might be thinking because so many of you who listen your mamas, and we're really good at taking care of everybody else. In fact, that's our priority. We're natural caregivers. It's how God made us. And so sometimes we just think, okay, I don't have time to take care of me. I'm just going to focus on keeping my family healthy. I don't have time to focus on my health. Let me tell you it doesn't work that way. SIS, you might be able to sustain that extreme lack of self-care for a bit, maybe, but there will come a point where your body crashes and burns because it can't go on and you know what? I've been there. I know better, but I've been there. And let me tell you, it's not fine. So let me give you some tips, seven tips to reclaim your health. Now I'm just going to warn you. These are basic. These are simple. You're going to listen today's and you're going to be like, I know that, uh, know that. So let's begin. Number one, make sleep a priority. Sleep is so healing. So very restorative so much happens in your, when your body sleeps. Y'all so much healing and restoration and detoxification happens when you sleep. It is, it is simply guides design. Do you know? I've never had one client, one woman, one mama who said, yes, I'm make sleep a priority. Never one. And this is always one of the first things we talk about because when you get sleep, your body can work efficiently and you're going to make better choices the next day. Number two, manage stress. Notice. I didn't say reduce stress because, oh my goodness, the stress is it just going to disappear? And so often we put things off and we're like, okay, when I get through this busy season, then I'll start managing stress better. When I, you know, when I do this, when I do that, when I get to this timeline, y'all it doesn't work that way. You have to manage stress today, right? This minute, one of the best ways you can do that, it's so simple, deep breathing, deep, intentional breathing. Now I've got some other podcasts. I will link here that kind of go into some of these basics, but deep breathing does a world of good. It can be as simple as giving yourself a one-minute pause and doing some deep breathing. That can be as simple as a short inhale in a longer exhale out, pushing the belly out like you're blowing up a balloon. It can be like one of my favorites, Foursquare breathing, breathe in count of four, hold it. Count to four, breathe out, count to four and hold it. Count to four. Just this simple act of deep breathing helps your body dial back the stress response. Number three, get some sunshine, get out outside, get some sunshine. You need some sun on your face. Um, it is amazing. What is very, very healthy for the body is that we take little breaks outside and walk outside during the day. Even if it's for five minutes and first thing in the morning, one of the best things you can do first thing in the morning is to take a short walk outside. Absolutely fantastic for you. In fact, that is an excellent way to really help your sleep is to watch the sun rise and watch the sun set. Number four, move your body. Let go of the expectations that it has to look a certain way. Just move, just move, taking a walk. First thing in the morning, walking the dogs, doing some yoga stretches at the end of the day, getting up and take from your desk and taking some movement breaks. 10-to-15-minute movement breaks makes all the difference in the world. Find a partner that you can work out with. Find a little bit of movement that you enjoy. It does not have to be a marathon. It does not have to be an hour-long sweat session at the gym, do something to move your body. You need it, and it will help you manage the stress. It makes a big difference. Number five, drink, clean water. We're dehydrated, and our body cannot function that way. Drink some water. Remember you're aiming for half of your body weight in ounces. Number six, real complicated nutrition advice here. You ready? Number six, eat real food. It does not have to be complicated. Eat real food, big food, big pharma, huh? They're just into making money. Okay. Now I'm going to refer you to another podcast I did about health washing and about how the deceptive practices of the food industry. Okay. I will link that in the show notes right now. Here's what I want you to hear. If you want to reclaim your health - eat real food, real whole foods, the foods that do not require a food label, those foods that are easily recognizable. That's broccoli, that's chicken. That's an apple. That's an avocado. Got it. Okay. Eat real foods. Food is medicine. Number seven, last but not least, take care of your mental and emotional health. Don't ignore it. I am the queen of the mask and the queen of everything. I have the struggle and putting a mask in place and saying I'm fine. And the queen of I'm fine. Y'all but I'm going to tell you, it catches up with you. The body, mind and soul are so intricately connected, not a single one of these can be ignored. Isn't it interesting? Everything I just listed, huh? That's either free or it's cheap. That's maybe that's why you haven't heard a lot about that. It's amazing. What happens when you sleep, it builds up your immune system by making sleep a priority. I'm not, I'm not talking about taking something to help you sleep. You making sleep a priority, implementing a bedtime routine, getting your buns in bed on time. Y'all they're not going to talk about something unless it makes them money. So when, when I say, make sleep a priority, do some deep breathing, get outside and get some vitamin D from the sun, move your body, take care of your mental and emotional health. Guess what? Those things are free. Absolutely free. Huh? Maybe that's why it's not discussed because nobody can make money off you taking some deep breaths. Nobody can make money all over you stepping outside and getting a little bit of sunshine and fresh air. That's why it's not discussed. But that is why you have to take your health into your own hands and utilize some of these sayings. It's back to the basics. You know what to do, but it's vital that you be your own best advocate and take control of your health. It's time to be proactive and intentional and make that shift from knowing what to do, to actually doing it. This is where coaching comes in. Some of you listening might say, you know what, Jennifer, thank you. I needed that reminder. I'm good to go. Like, I really know what to do. And I have a plan in place. Like I'm going to be intentional and I'm ready to go. Others of you might be in a state of overwhelm. You might just need some guidance. You need help with an action plan. You need someone to empower you with that shift from knowing to doing so. Don't forget. Go to the Bitly link, give your email, download the holiday guide. And there's a coaching special in that Bitly link – it’s Bitly forward slash 2021 healthy holiday survival. So as we wrap up, here's your action items. Are you ready? Number one, share this podcast with a friend. This is practical, empowering stuff. It's stuff that you need to know, stuff that you need to hear as you're trying to be healthy. And as you're trying to impact the health of your family intentionally, stay tuned for next week, you do not want to miss my conversation with Dr. Amy Beard, as she gives us some insider's perspective into the very broken sick care system and how we can be proactive with our health, simple, encouraging, and empowering. That is what this podcast is all about. I want you to feel like you have a friend guiding you towards better health. Not somebody that's just interested in making money. I want you to feel like, Hey, I can do this. I want you to know I'm here for you mama. Until next time, make sleep a priority, take some deep breaths, get some sunshine, drink clean water. And for the love, eat some real food. Have a good day. Bye y'all. |
